About

Laura Caseberry in home studio with easel, canvas, bushes and paints.

My artistic activities serve me as a means to process and endure the world I experience. Even my works which venture into fantastical and whimsical places typically carry elements of cognitive reconstruction. Aspects of life trigger emotional and mental states for all of us; my artwork is a response to my triggers and a strategy for emotional well-being and a clearer mental state. For a long time, I lived with constant negative rumination. Art allows me to extract meaning from whatever is weighing me down, rather than simply disconnecting. The older I get, the better I get at turning all the noise inside my head into purposeful expression.

As a result, my work can contain a lot of ardour and raw emotion. This intrinsically ties my artistic activities to my personal values, such as authenticity and compassion. I have a strong sense of social justice, including ecological justice. These topics can perhaps be more clearly recognised at a surface level in my poetry; however, if you explore the concept mapping of my visual artworks, it sets out their place in the context of the image.
