Poetry
Narrative poems
The three poetry collections below were originally published as volumes under the title ‘A vague interpretation of a youthful imagination’ and written roughly between 2003-2008. This collection was published under an old pen name I used, ‘Khalan Adams’.
Written in my late teens/early 20s, they are filled with raw emotion and angst. Whilst my poetry grew beyond what is within these volumes, these poems still hold value for me as they were part of how I got through some heavy times. They are a reflection of the adventures life took me on and the paths it dragged me down. A few of the poems I still enjoy from these volumes are featured above

It’s worth noting that my artwork cannot exist separately from me as the creator. A person may recognise themselves as a subject within my work. My hope in this note is that they do not misconceive their position regarding the work and take offence. An artwork is a manifestation of the artist’s lived experience and will therefore always be biased, always from a certain perspective, and will convey what the artist has manipulated and expressed into the medium, consciously or unconsciously.
In simpler terms, my work does contain people, places, and events from my life. Still, they are not factual, journalistic accounts devoid of subjectivity, because they are mine and I created them in response to encounters with everything other than myself.
