(2015)
Even the timid violence my eyes have seen feels enough
A confident drunk who’s consumed a bit too much
Unleashes on their family with a fierce touch
The child forwards it into their own dark aggression
Shimmer a heavy blade at the desolate swing park here is adolescence
I will walk here and here I will stubbornly stand
As foolish council estate etiquette demands
To think I can hold my own might be naive
But show no fear I will fight the thief
I do not envy their fold of social naivety
I am teen cleaning a mixture of blood from a local knave’s knuckles
Blood of the aggressive
Blood of the even more aggressive
Turning his hands over with dry eyes too sharp from drugs
Staring through me, he asks me ‘whose is all this blood?’
Tall and broad a dealer stands telling me I should know his name
Hilarious that he expects me to quake and cower to his crooked fame
How the fuck would I know who you are, or even care
You are just a human, a vile human, and this is just another day at work
My mind regularly enacts worse deaths than showing you defiance
I see a world where humans only gain self-momentum through violence
