Unheard Beat

(2026)

I saw a couple slow dancing in a barrel vaulted entrance
Tall alabaster stone framed their entranced faces
It wasn’t an obvious event
Quiet and private despite being on a public street
Dressed in coats and scarves flowing with an unheard beat

Eyes upon each other fixed solid
Embracing their moment living for one another
I tried not to stare
To not invade what is theirs
Only walk by with an envious soft smile
Keeping my own feet quiet on the floor
Dreaming of a time when my dance will also be yours
